IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PER SWIMMER COSTS FOR
2006 SHORT COURSE ZONES
AND 2006 LONG COURSE ZONES

February 9, 2006

The PVS Board of Directors at its February 8th meeing determined the costs per swimmer to attend the upcoming 2006 Short Course and 2006 Long Course Zone meets. The Board is taking this opportunity to publicize these costs in advance of the publication of the February 8, 2006 board minutes so that parents can plan and budget for their swimmers to be a part of these teams.

2006 Short Course Zones
The Board has approved setting the cost per swimmer at $400 which covers transportation, hotel, 2 meals per day (breakfast and dinner) and outfitting.  Swimmers will be responsible for paying for their own lunches.  The total cost to send our Short Zone Team to this year's site (Long Island, NY) is anticipated to be considerably higher than in the past due to high cost of lodging and meals in the region. Total costs are expected to be about $57,500 if the team has about 85 swimmers. This has been the approximate size of the team the past 3 years. Based on these assumptions, PVS will be funding approximately 41% or about $23,500 of the total cost for the swimmers to participate.

Additional information pertaining to the team has been posted. See 2006 PVS Eastern Zone Spring SC Team Selection Status . Additional information about the team is expected to be posted shortly.

2006 Long Course Zones
The Board approved setting the cost per swimmer at $500.  It is assumed  this cost will cover transportation, hotel, at least 2 meals per day and outfitting.  The total cost to send our Long Course Zone team is anticipated to run between $53,200 and $114,600. This number is very, dependent upon the number of swimmers attending.  Thus, based on currently projected total costs, PVS will be funding approximately from 35% to 44% ($27,800 to $39,550) of the total cost for the swimmers to participate.

The PVS Board previously accepted the Competition Committee recommendation to have PVS participate in this year's meet on the same basis as it did in 2005. This means swimmers will be expected to attend the entire meet, travel to and from Buffalo together by bus, and be housed, eat and participate in other activities together as a team. The dates of the 2006 meet are August 9-12.
