NOTE: Warm up for 11-12 and 9-10 start time will begin no earlier than the times posted above.

Note: Meet Director will determine if session start times or check-in times for the 12 & Under sessions will need to be adjusted based on number of entries received for prior sessions.

Meet Director reserves the right to limit the number of entries for any event and/or positive check in all events in order to keep timelines manageable.

Eligibility:

Open to all registered Potomac Valley Swimming athletes ages 9 through 18 as of the first day of the meet who meet the following criteria:

·         All individual events' qualifying times will be governed by "No Faster Than" (NFT) time standards. The NFT time standards are equivalent to the SCY individual event qualification time standards for the 2009 PVS 14&Under Junior Olympic Championships for the 14 & under swimmers and Junior Champs for 15-18 swimmers.

·         Entries must be submitted in SCY -- no converted times are permitted.

IMPORTANT:  Swimmers who attain a new age group between February 23rd and February 28th may compete as "exhibition" in any event where their time:  (1) is faster than the 2009 PVS B/BB Championships "No Faster Than" standard for their current age group; AND ALSO (2) is slower than the 2009 PVS 14&Under Junior Olympic Championships or Junior Championship "No Slower Than" standards for their new age group.  These exhibition swims will prevent swimmers from potentially being excluded from both the 2009 PVS B/BB Championships, 2009 PVS 14&Under Junior Olympic Championships or the Junior Championship meets.

A contestant may participate in only his or her own age group.

Inclusion Policy for Swimmers with a Disability

PVS and host clubs along with their Meet Directors are committed to the Inclusion Policy as adopted by the BOD . Athletes with a disability are welcomed and are asked to provide advance notice of desired accommodations to the Meet Director and PVS Age Group Chairman (Bill Marlin at coach_bill@verizon.net). The athlete (or the athlete’s coach) is also responsible for notifying the session referee of any disability prior to the competition.

Warnings:

Any club that enters an unregistered or improperly registered athlete, falsifies an entry in any way, or permits an unregistered coach to represent them, will be fined the sum of $100.00 and no further entries will be accepted from that club until the said fine has been paid.

Entry fees are due with meet entry. Unpaid fees will be reported to the PVS Administrative Office at the conclusion of the meet.

Rules:

Current USA Swimming rules shall govern the meet.  Positive check-in is required for all individual 200 yards and longer.  The Meet Director will determine if will be required for shorter events.  Positive check-in events will be seeded on the deck.  Swimmers not checked-in will be scratched from that event.  Athletes who have checked in, been seeded, and fail to swim the event will be barred from their next scheduled individual event.

The meet will not be scored.

No late entries are permitted for this meet.

Dive-over starts may be used at this meet at the discretion of the Meet Manager and/or Meet Referee.  Coaches are requested to review Guidance for Dive-Over Starts for Coaches.  Officials are requested to review Protocol for Dive-Over Starts.  A determination whether to do so will be made shortly after entries for this meet have been processed.

No on-deck USA-S registrations will be permitted.

Individual Events:

All individual events are timed finals.  A contestant may compete in a maximum of six (6) individual events, and compete in no more than three (3) individual events per day.

Awards:

Medals will be awarded 1st through 8th place for individual events based on age (not age group).

Officials:

Each participating club is requested to provide at least one table worker or official (referee, starter or stroke and turn judge) per session if entering 25 or more splashes.

All certified officials wishing to volunteer to work this meet please contact the FBST Officials Chairman, Ed Dona, 703-629-9240, edona@cox.net  prior to February 10, 2009. Please include your club affiliation, certifications held, and sessions you wish to work. Officials volunteering should sign in at the recording table prior to the start of Warm-ups. Certified officials who have not previously advised of their availability may volunteer their services to the Referee at this time.

Timers:

Participating clubs are required to provide timers in proportion to their entries. The meet director will determine the number of timers per club and lane assignments. The host club is required to provide one timer per lane.

Supervision:

Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their swimmers and for cleaning up their team areas.

Credentials:

Parents not working the meet as a deck official, volunteer lane timer, or other meet position are not permitted on deck. Only athletes, USA Swimming certified coaches, and deck officials are permitted on the pool deck. Coaches and deck officials are required to display their current USA Swimming card.
