Athletes Representative
Nominations are now being accepted for election to the PVS Board of
Directors as Athlete Representatives. Two Athlete Representatives will be
elected at this time. The Athlete Representatives shall serve as the
liaison between the athletes who are members of PVS and the Board of
Directors and House of Delegates. The term of office is September 1, 2009
to August 31, 2011.
At the time of election, the Athlete Representative must (a) be an Athlete Member in good standing; (b) be at least sixteen (16) years of age or at least a sophomore in high school; (c) be currently competing, or have competed during the three (3) immediately preceding years, in the program of swimming conducted by PVS or another LSC; and unless granted an exception by the Board of Directors (d) reside in the Territory and expect to reside therein throughout at least the first half of the term.
Virginia Ratcliff will complete an initial two-year term on August 31, 2009, is eligible to run again, and has indicated she will NOT seek a second term.
Christopher "CJ" Fiala was appointed to fill a vacancy in the other two-year term that ends August 31, 2009 and has indicated his intent to run for a second two-year term. Danielle Schulkin has indicated her intent to run for an initial two-year term.

Elections will be held at the upcoming LSC Championship meets:
PVS Senior LCM Championship Meet at University of Maryland (UMD) on Friday, July 17th and Sunday, July 19th from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM each day.
PVS Junior Long Course Championship Meet (at UMD) on Friday July 17th from 12:00 PM to 1:40 PM and Sunday July 19th from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM.
PVS LC 14&U Championship Meet at Fairland Aquatic Center on Friday, July 24 and Sunday, July 26 from 6:30 AM to 8:15 AM each day.
The Athlete Representatives elected shall be determined by a plurality of the Athlete Members in good standing, present, and voting who are thirteen (13) years of age or older.
Candidates Statements
CJ Fiala - My name is CJ Fiala and I am running for the office of Athlete Representative for Potomac Valley Swimming League. I am currently finishing an appointed term as an Athlete Representative so I have experience in the position I am running for. I started swimming in Potomac Valley when I was 7 years of age with the Mason Makos. I swam for Curl-Burke Swim Club from the ages of 8 to 12 then switched to my current team Machine Aquatics. This past year I was a Junior National Qualifier and was a State finalist in the High School State Championship meet. I also have been on my local summer team since the age of 6 and have been an assistant coach for the past 2 years. I would like to serve as an Athlete Representative to the PVS Board because, I would be representing a group of swimmers and I would strive to represent their ideas and bring them to the attention of the board.
