Age Group Chair Report

I.                                Outreach Request – No action taken on my part.

      II.               2008 Summer LC Zones Update:

I  Spoke with James Wolfley on the phone today, we discussed the following…

PVS and VA should form a meet committee and try to meet at the Eastern Zone meeting in May if most can attend.  VA’s committee will most likely consist of  James Wolfley, Michael Downs (?), their Open water person and a Coach Rep.  I suggest our PVS committee be comprised on myself, Kurt Thiel (if he will agree), one of the Coaches Reps and one other PVS BOD member.

VA has not done any work on 2008 LC Zones yet and will most likely not start getting into action until this summer. 

VA also felt that we should try to go 50-50 as much as possible, splitting the cost and any profit down the middle. 

VA LSC is going to run their portion of the meet and not farm it out to a team as they have enough trouble getting teams to step up and run their LSC Championship meets they’d just as soon run it and staff it themselves.

VA is going to run the Age Group session at GMU Manassas and the Open Water venue TBD.  James has Kurt Theil’s e-mail address and will contact him about venues and meet set up.  They will use their Open Water person as well.  VA has not selected an Open Water Venue yet but has suggested 3 possible sites in their borders that are close to PVS territory. I do not know what those sites are at this time.  I suggested Pohick Bay and Lake Reston as two possible venues in PVS territory.

LC Zones Meet committee will discuss T-shirts…to do them ourselves or use an outside vendor (and get approx 15% back).

VA will secure the GMU Manassas site and issue the sanction.

III.                     Zone Coaches Stipend Increase: - No work has been done on my part.

IV.                    New Zone Coordinator:  I did speak to Marilyn Mangels about a potential candidate.
