As Presented at the PVS Board of Directors Meeting - January 17, 2007
PVS camp in April
Time and Place: Sunday April 29 at Fairland Aquatics from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Target Swimmers: Level III (11-14 year olds) 50 swimmers
Swimmer Requirement: Swimmers must have minimum of 2JO cuts as of the first day of the meet in their age group at the meet.
Format: 2 hours pool time in am, 4 hours of classroom time with lunch, 2 hours pool time in the afternoon (very similar to a sample sent by USA Swimming)
Coaches: Looking for applicants. All Applications due by the end of Jan. Open, I currently have three applications (1 for head coach and 2 for assistant) need a total of 5, with the possibility of two senior assistants.
Topics: Camp Coordinator, Age Group Chair and Head Coach together will plan the topics and schedule. Nutrition is one we are trying to get an outside (USA Swimming) speaker for.
Fee: We will be charging a fee per swimmer, in the $20 range (most likely). Total amount incoming $1000.
I would, however, like to hear opinions about fee and how much the Board feels is appropriate. Thanks.
Price: All prices are approximate for now, but should be close. Facility rental: $700 Food (lunch and snacks): $15 per person (15 X 60) = $900, prizes/giveaways $200 Total cost: $1800. Not sure if there will be a fee for any outside speakers yet, I am looking into that, this amount will most likely affect the swimmers fee.
Parent Track: I am hoping to bring in a speaker from USA Swimming for this first camp. If! can arrange it, then I would also like to offer a short (90 minute) meeting/clinic for parents as well, to take place from 8-10 am, at this time the kids will be in the water. The topic will be determined by myself and AG Chair, but most likely will consist of some nutrition and parents role in their swimmers career as they progress to the next level. This is not confirmed yet and would not be mandatory, but will be HIGHLY SUGGESTED and should be convenient enough that all parents can attend. Again there may be a small fee associated to help defray the cost of the speaker.
Money requested: I am requesting $2000 to cover the price of the camp; if a fee is needed for a speaker then that price would be divided among the athletes/parents. If this amount is not used then whatever is left will be returned.
Thank you all for your consideration.
