The purpose of PVS is the education, instruction and training of individuals to develop and improve their capabilities in the sport of competitive swimming. PVS shall promote swimming for the benefit of swimmers of all ages and abilities in accordance with the standards, rules, regulations, policies and procedures of USA Swimming and PVS. Through its competition program PVS will develop competitive skills, good sportsmanship, and a love for the sport among its athletes. PVS is dedicated to providing an opportunity for excellence in which our athletes' potentials and goals can be achieved. Competitive swimming promotes the health and well being of our youth; it builds the self-confidence and self-discipline important for success in later life. In swimming, no one sits on the bench and no one has to be a winner; all competitors compete at a level in which they can excel. Swimming is goal-based; each athlete can set goals that are meaningful and achievable, and that build self-worth. PVS attempts to ensure that no athlete is denied the opportunity to compete based on cost; therefore, it maintains a financial aid program to support those athletes who otherwise would be denied the opportunity to compete at the highest level for which they are qualified.
The purpose and goals of PVS can only be achieved through the efforts of parents, coaches, and other volunteers. No organization can succeed without the dedicated support of its members. Competitive swimming in PVS is conducted by volunteers who contribute their time and talents out of a love for the sport. There are ample opportunities for persons of all talents and interests to get actively involved in PVS programs either directly or through a club program. We encourage your active support as a demonstration of your dedication to a quality program for all swimmers in PVS. Any PVS volunteer member will be very willing to discuss ways for you to get involved.
