REGISTRATION

USA Swimming requires annual registration of all its athletes. Each athlete must complete a USA Swimming registration application. These forms are available from your coach, your team's registrar, or the Potomac Valley registrar. Each registered athlete will be given a unique identification number which belongs to that athlete throughout his or her swimming career.

All coaches, deck officials, and Potomac Valley Board of Directors must also join USA Swimming as Coach or Non Athlete members. Application forms are mailed to all current members in August, and perspective members may contact the Potomac Valley Registrar, their club Registrar, or the Officials' Chairperson. All coaches and non athletes will be assigned a personal unique identification number.

All athletes who wish to transfer from one Potomac Valley Team to another after registrating with one team, must fill out a Potomac Valley Transfer Card. This yellow card must be filled in completely, signed, and sent to the Potomac Valley Registrar along with a $1.00 transfer fee. USA Swimming rules require that "120 days must have elapsed" from the time an athlete represented one team, before he or she may represent another team. During this 120 days, the athlete may practice with the new team, but must swim as "unattached."
