In keeping with the spirit of the holidays the Potomac Marlins are offering a opportunity for swim families to give back to the community, by setting up a Toys for Tots Drive through along with the Military Order of the Toy for Tots organization and Machine Aquatics. Machine has collected and donated nearly 500 toys to the organization and we are hoping to increase the number of donated toys to 1000.

Toys will be collected at the Sport Fair Winter Classic meet at George Mason University from Thursday Dec. 13 through Sunday Dec. 16. Marines will be on site on Friday Dec. 13 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to help collect the toys. However we will continue to collect toys all weekend long.

We are asking for each swimmer to donate one (1) new unwrapped toy for the drive. All donations are 100% tax deductible.  These toys will be distributed to military families who have lost families members in service and local needy families in the Washington, DC area. There will also be a donation box available for any monetary donations.  Please make your donations payable directly to Toys for Tots.  We are also hoping to have a sizeable cash donation to provide to the program as well.

For more information on the Toys for Tots organization please visit their website at www.dctoysfortots.com.

Lastly, we will be in need of swimmers who are not in the meet to volunteer to help collect and load the toys.  This opportunity to volunteer will count for volunteer hours for many organizations.  We strongly encourage your swimmers to wear their team outfitting and show how their club supports this great cause.  If you have swimmers who can help, please have them contact me at tandpawards@verizon.net or just show up to help.

Thank you in advance for your support and help in making sure that we have successful toy drive. This is such an important cause, remember one small toy can make such a difference to a kid this Christmas season.
